This private tour (3 days / 2 nights) takes you from Marrakech a Fez, with local guides and everything organised at your own pace.

El segundo día llega el momento más esperado. Subes a lomos de un dromedario, te adentras en el mar de arena y ves caer el sol desde lo alto de una duna. Después, cena bereber, tambores junto al fuego y una noche de silencio y estrellas en el campamento. Al amanecer, el sol vuelve a teñir de oro las dunas antes de poner rumbo a Fez por el Medio Atlas y los cedros de Ifrane.

Day-by-day itinerary to Fez

1Marrakech – Tizi n'Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades
Departure from your hotel in Marrakech and ascent into the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We visit the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and pass through Ouarzazate and its film studios. We continue along the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley, where we have dinner and spend the night among spectacular rock formations.

2Dades – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (camp)
We travel through the Todra Gorges, one of the most impressive canyons in Morocco, and continue southeast through Berber villages to Merzouga. In the afternoon, a camel ride to the camp in the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset. Berber dinner, music by the fire and a night under the stars.

3Sunrise in the desert – Ziz – Ifrane – Fez
Sunrise over the dunes and a camel ride back for breakfast. We head north through the fertile Ziz Valley and its endless palm groves, cross the Middle Atlas and the 'little Switzerland' of Ifrane, with its cedar forests that are home to Barbary macaques. Arrival in Fez in the late afternoon.

Frequently asked questions – tour to Fez
Why do the Marrakech to Fez route instead of a round trip?
Because you make the most of the journey: you start in one imperial city and finish in another without repeating any scenery. It's ideal if you fly into Marrakech and out of Fez (or vice versa), and you'll see the Ziz Valley and Ifrane, which aren't included on the round-trip route.
Can you pick me up or drop me off at the airport?
Yes. We can start at your hotel or directly at Marrakech airport, and finish at your hotel or at Fez airport. Just tell us your flight times and we'll coordinate it.
How much driving is there on the last day to Fez?
The third day has the most kilometres, around 7–8 hours with stops to eat, take photos in the Ziz Valley and walk among the cedars of Ifrane. We leave early after sunrise to reach Fez in good time.
What kind of camp do you use in the dunes?
We work with Berber camps with tents equipped with a bed and bathroom. We have a standard and a luxury option (with private bathroom and finer touches). We'll show you both and you choose according to your budget.
Can this route be done in reverse, from Fez to Marrakech?
Of course. The same route works starting in Fez and ending in Marrakech. Write to us with your starting point and we'll organise it just as well.

Best time
Spring (March–May) and autumn (Sept–Nov). Winter is cold at night; summer is very hot.
What to bring
Light daytime clothes, a warm layer for the night, sunscreen, a hat and comfortable footwear for the sand.
Physical level
Basic level. The camel ride is optional and can be swapped for a 4×4 if you prefer.

Morocco is a safe destination. We recommend travel insurance and bringing any personal medication you need.
